No champagne for Kimi and JPM

Post

http://www.f1technical.net/news/2003

Mclaren signed the deal with Emirates Airline so we can expect Kimi and JPM to face same problems as Williams drivers some 25 years ago when their sponsor became Air Saudia and spraying or drinking champagne on podium was banned for Williams drivers.

Islam forbids alcohol but people who visited Bahrain for example say that you can buy alcohol drinks in many restaurants and cafes all around the Bahrain.

Bahrain is a very modern Islamitic country...they've adapted to western life, but still they keep their own culture and uses. I think Bahrain is an example for people all around the world how different cultures, different religions and different races can life together and be as one.

I don't really think that they can do that....the new sponsor of McLaren I mean. Johnny Walker is sponor too and if the company would bother with alcohol, they wouldn't have signed the contract with McLaren.... btw: have you ever been on 1 flight in an airplane where they don't sell alcohol?

Situation isn’t that rosy in Bahrain. Citizens of Israel are not allowed to come to Bahrain GP even though there is no war or anything between these two countries but pure anti-Semitism from Bahrain.

I admire Principessa’s enthusiasm for brotherhood among people but Bahrain isn’t really good example of how it should be. Perhaps Bahrain is the very modern among Islamic countries but that is far from modern when it matters human rights and liberties in the west.

Oh, yes... I don't fly . I like fast driving but don't like flying since no wings are growing from my back

Weird...my uncle was on flight to Jemen once, with a islamitic airline (don't remember the name) and he got scotch there....so...perhaps it's not with every islamitic airline...I think that if they fly on European countries and America that they do serve them

But with spraying the champagne they can't have problem, because of what I said earlier (sponsorship of Johnny Walker)

Didn't they spray some sort of fruit juice last year? Looked no different if I remember correctly. (although it probably smelt better)

I believe it's important for any visitor to a nation to respect and follow the customs and laws in that place. It's their country, please respect them. Although you may eat different foods or drink different drinks, or follow different customs or religions, it's still their country.

Gosh I am not sure, but am pretty sure I read a few weeks back where there was to be extra security for Mark Webber and Sam Michaels and it was even sugested they not show up for the race because of threats on thier lives. This has do do with the fact they are Ausies and support the war. Maybe I am wrong, but maybe not.

Sadly, international politics sometimes invades the sports world. Just look at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

They have rose water in those Magnum bottles in Bahrain, at least the commentators on TV pointed that out the last 2 years.
Emirates airline is from Dubai and a global business, but yes the "Johnnie Walker" logo is replaced with "Keep walking" in bahrain.
Easy on the Appletini!

Shame Manchild, flying is such fun. I wa sonce in a helicopter over the Rockies in British Columbia, and we suddenly had the fuel being discharged from the tanks. Quickly running out of gas over the mountains.. now that's fun.
