Racecar Engineering journal

Post

I was browsing my university library for a journal I needed for one of my pieces of coursework, and passed I passed a collection of "Racecar Engineering" magazine. I didn't have time to have a good look inside, so I was wondering if any of you knew of this publication and if it's any good (and/or worth subscribing to).

That is very popular among motorsport enthusiasts. It will provide info on motorsport developments, but nothing hardcore. Race Tech magazine is also a good mag.

I have many copies of that magazine. It's informative, and has good articles. But they cover a lot of different stuff, and you can never be sure what area is covered in each issue. I consider it a quality magazine that reveals certain aspects of racing technology. I do not consider it a serious reference for that reason.

I also subscribe to both. Racecar is really indepth but has a bit of aero, (most of what McBeath says goes way over my simple head) and Race Tech runs a few articles on preparation from your garage sort of stuff and various peoples home build projects which I like. Scarbs also writes articles for both I believe.

Yes, the old ones are excellent. I was lucky enough to build a large collection of them from 1991> through a second hand bookshop.

You can sometimes see a few volumes up for sale on eBay quite cheap. The postage might do you in though.

OK, thanks for the advice.

I'm a bit poor at the moment, but it could well be worth my while subscribing in the future when I feel a bit wealthier.

If/when I next get a decent opportunity, I'll read the library's back issues in more detail.

What are some more serious, or 'hardcore' journals or magazines for F1?
