Does anyone know what Nico's contract situation is for next year?

Nice photo. In November 2005, it was announced as a "long term contract". This means: until Briatore gets the money, I guess.

Hey. I think that Nico R. will not backstab it's team like F. Alonso did. I think that he will say with his team and make it a competitive team to battle it out with the front runners. We'll see : )

Hey taleed, I dont think that Alonso back-stabbed his team. He simply didnt see the long term commitment in Renault who made it clear that only in F1 as long as it is profitable for them. For a talent like Alonso, I think he did the right thing jumping ship to a team having an overdue championship

F1 is about backstabbing.

If Roseburg stuck to morals and polite gestures, he would never have got past karts, never ming GP2 and F1.

To make it you must be ruthless.

Well I think that he made his decision bit too early. I can understand that he left Renault. Flavio didn't want to give him the raise he asked for and it's not certain that Renault will stay in F1.

Has Alonso's reason ever been made completely clear? I thought $14M wouldnt even put him 2nd in driver income when he goes to McLaren.

I honestly think he just wants to avoid Schumacher like situations, and prove he is a world champion by winning at more than one team

I read in a F1 magazine that he will get $30 million each year! That's 3 times more than what he gets now the magazine said.

I really am not sure how wise it was of Alonso to sign the contract with Mclaren a year before it actually starts. Wouldn't it have been better to wait and look at the car performances till maybe the mid of 2006 season and then make the decision? McLaren look strong currently but who knows where they will be at the end of 2006? Now it looks as if he is going only after the money!

Well certainly its Alonso's decision ... no issues with that!

As far as Rosberg goes, that kid has been pretty impressive till now. I wish the Cosworth would have lasted on his car! Would have been interesting watching him fight with Alonso during the race!

And about his contract, I hope he doesn't dump Williams. Williams is one team I respect a lot and always want them to do well. And they seem to have the potential this season too!

Rosberg and Williams looks like a great combination. Hoping for the best for them!

I think his contract is 3 or 4 years old, I can not remember where I read that.
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

Raptor, I agree with you. I have immense respect for the Williams team, it just has a special place in my heart. I think Rosberg should stick with Williams for some 3-4 yrs atleast. Sooner or later Williams is gonna win and the team will do for Rosberg what Renault did for Alonso to make him world champion

I agree, every teams has its ups and downs, Rosberg has just hopped into a williams race seat at the perfect time, as it appears they are on the up.

By the time they are back to full competitiveness Nico could be very well established in the team and be able to mount a serious championship battle. Fernando best watch out, if things pan out perfectly for Nico he could be youngest world champion.

I know its still VERY VERY early to say this about Nico, but he's incredibly clever, he will learn quickly, and he's only 20, in 3-4 years he could be great.
