Australia launching a new f5000 series. Should be some fun tracks.

Hope they soon allow for any modification to chassis and engine

If they do allow modification, budgets will spiral way out of the realm this series is hoping to run on.

True

But that is tge only way of keeping fans excited and coming back for more.

Imagine a GT series where they kept using old cars because of budgets

"April Fool's" piece?

Referring to a 'marketing speak' ... "quad-cam..." engine unit immediately makes it suspicious, IMO..

Having made that remark..
I, as a kid, recall seeing full-on F5000 racing - & that remains to this day, a motorsports-fan spectator highlight..
The speedy/viscerally thundering machines, & on-the-edge brutish driving required.. was real.. ( & too real - for today?)

Hope it's not April Fool's fodder.

A simple, modern-day F5000 is what racing needs. I think something like that is what Indycar should have made itself into. Then they would have full fields because the cost to run would be low.

One serious question is tires. "Chinese-made Giti tyres" does not inspire confidence. But if the series is going to new sources to get around the traditional high-markup suppliers then much respect for trying. Hope it works.
