Post

Would Ferrari have as much influence over F1 decisions as an PU supplier only as they do as the longest standing competitor? Technically they will not be leaving F1 if they keep supplying Sauber and Haas.

I think the point of these movements is, were Ferrari to leave, they'd take themselves and their engine with them. Haas and Sauber would be without an engine.

Ferrari are simply trying to corner as much influence as they can to make their threat more threatening, in the hope that this leads to some form of future incentive from Liberty to remain in the sport.

Ferrari is important to F1, not as a supplier or being "in the loop" but most of all of the marketing they bring. Wherever someone sees a Ferrari (ad), they think F1 or at least the connection. It's one of the most famous brands who do two major things, make expensive red cars and race F1.

Alfa or HAAS can't take that place, not in a long shot. Even a big brand as Mercedes doesn't have the automatic connection to F1. They still have the connection to dictators and taxi's ;-) RedBull in that respect has more of a marketing connection with F1.

By the way, every other fart, and Ferrari is "leaving"

Yay, off season is here! Welcome driver speculation, Ferrari quit threats and outlandish upcoming season predictions. Yay....

Ferrari need F1 as much as F1 needs them. They're going nowhere. Although, the way F1 is now, they may not know that it is time for the annual Ferrari bluff call.

It's like the standard cycle....

New rules announced.
Ferrari threathen to quit.
Bernie does deal with Ferrari to keep his favourite team happy.

I hope Ferrari remember that Bernie isn't in charge any more...
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yeah, but it's not just Ferrari that is threathen to quit. When Ferrari says something like that, there tons of articles in the press, and billion of comments about that. Mercedes did the same... and nobody care. Then there are people who question why the prize of Ferrari is bigger then the other teams.

I'd like to see Liberty call Ferrari's bluff. The tifosi will follow Ferrari wherever Ferrari races. I couldn't care less if they were in F1 anymore. Haas and Sauber can find PUs...it's not like Ferrari is the only supplier.
Honda!

i suspect Ferrari needs f1 more than they think. what else would they do other than selling cars to old rich men and footballers. and i don't see how the engine proposed is that far off what they would want to develop.

Ask to Toto Wolf... he also said that it was a new engine to be developed. Neither Ferrari or Mercedes want the engine that was purposed.
