Scuderia_Russ' new toy.

Mk1 V.W. Golf cabrio... only a 1.6 but very, very quick!! She's twenty one years old and will be tip top when I've spent as few quid on her... now all I need is some decent sunshine!

I don't want to drop the board into a vat of depression but my grandad and a very good friend of my Dads both died of cancer recently... yeah you sort of expect it with the old folks but not with people in their fifties, especially when you remember them being so full of life. Anyway I thought sod it!... you're a long time dead!

Anyone ever mention it looks like a pram????

Seriously, enjoy her............

I had a Golf GTi Mk 1 (hard top 1800) & then a GTi convertible, one of the all black special edition ones. To be honest the hardtop was one of the best cars I have ever driven and the convertible fairly poor dynamically.

BUT it felt soooo good with the hood down.

Yours looks in great shape :)

EDIT: You don't need sunshine, buy a scarf and if you drive fast enough the rain goes right over the top 8)

 You've got me on that one. It's in great nick for its age and I can give my self a good scare in it (nearly wrapped it up a total of three hours after buying her... bit of unexpected torque steer + no power steering = me very close to lamp post!!)

Still as beautifull. It seems this old design is never going to age. The new Golf have really lost it...
