I don't see how anyone can make that kind of career change.

maybe he got frustrated with the position he has been in F1 all the time. I think he wants to be somewhere he is not afraid of his temmate and the team comfortably revolves around him

Not a lot shocks me these days... but this..... I did not see coming! This is F1's loss even if he is a hot headed menace sometimes.

I'm shocked but not saddened, he will like it in NASCAR, I think it will suit his style, and he will arrive with an F1 halo, so he'll get the attention.

This will also allow some fresh faces to move up into the good seats in F1.

change is good.

Oh, I agree Walter. Unless you are riding the wave of change you will only get caught beneath it!

Change is good. I'm all for it. But NASCAR?

Drive an F1 car and travel the world or make left turns in agricultural equipment for three to four hours? I don't get it.

So does this mean that Hamilton or de la Rosa will finish out the season for McLaren?

From the looks of it Montoya's move is a NASCAR marketing opportunity. If nothing else it'll draw the curious. And, they'll probably pay him well enough.

NASCAR contact? Are you talking on or off track?

He's staying in F1 for the rest of this season, it's next year he's going to NASCAR. I might watch it if I ever knew when it was on.

If I were him, I would've pushed for a seat at Red Bull, but hey, his decision...

Wonder who'll replace him at McLaren?

Let´s just face it.. He would have been without a job next year i F1 anyhow. And he has seen the writing on the wall for a long time and therefor done the right thing to keep his dignity..
Sorry guys.
Motorsport is great but F1 is the best

Not a total shock if you look at his winning history in American racing. He's won tons in the States through his aggressive racing style; which in contrast to F1 requires more technical finesse.

Montoya's got tons of fans and friends in U.S., is closer to Columbia, and will probably score a decent amount of American bucks. On top of that, he's with Chip, proven and strong work relationship; no Williams duels-outs!

I say good for Montoya...but in the end, I still won't watch NASCAR

sorry :)

adios
Will the next Columbian F1 Superstar please stand up? Please stand up?

I know that's how it is. But if I were Ron Dennis in the middle of a lost season with a lame-duck driver, I'd be all about getting Hamilton, or someone else, valuable race time to build on for when the team is more competitive.

Lewis has 1 aim this year.

GP2 championship.

Nothing will take him away from winning the championship the way he did the Euroseries.. Domination like no other.
