Interesting choice of words??

Post

I was reading about the McLaren shoot out http://www.dailyf1news.com/dailyf1news/ ... nwsID=1191 and thought this quote by Martin Whitmarsh very interesting
“Woking based team will select from within the 'family' to replace the departed Juan Pablo Montoya full-time next year.”
Interesting that he mentioned the departing JPM rather than stating that Alonso’s teammate will be from within the ‘Family’. That is, Kimi is already a teammate & within the 'family'. Therefore JPM's vacant seat would not need replacing.

Wouldn't read too much into that...

If I remember correctly, they said that they will announce their line-up by Monaco. Four races later, and we still don't know who their drivers will be.

BTW, Paffet and Hamilton are also part of the family!

I'm pretty sure it means Gary Paffet actually, I've been out of touch for a while but I got the impression that Kimi still isn't set.

kimi looked distant in some gp's like in monaco, now with rumours linking him to renault. IMO it should be paffet-de la Rosa, it's so early to give hamilton a race seat at mclarens

Personaaly I think Kimi is going to Renault, he is getting tired and fed up waiting at McLaren while Renault is working well. I don't think we will find out who Alonso's team mate will be until next year when all of the contenders have shot it out throughout winter testing. I think Lewis would have been the third driver next year but I am not sure if Friday free testing is going to allow it, so he might get in, but I think it is more likely that he is farmed out for a year to a lesser squad where he can cut his teath and make his mistakes before joining McLaren in 2008. In which case I think it might be Gary Parfet, but you never know
