Reckon he's gambling that Kimi will be off to Ferrari one way or another.....that probably leaves a goodish sized door open at Renault and Frank gets to run someone much cheaper than Mark

Sir Frank is famous for keeping his driver salaries as low as possible. Why do you think Damon left?
But after Mark Webber's incredible effort (only to be let down by his equipment) at Hochenheim, this may be a mistake by Williams.

While I was watching the German GP on Speed, the annoucners were mentioning that he has a shot at mclaren and renault and a big shot at Red Bull, where did the Red Bull connection come from?
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

2007, Williams - Toyota, STR - Cosworth V8. Perhaps he'll go in same package with engines.

The 'accept' part of the title is misleading, but it is not incorrect if you read the right interpretation.

He has 'accepted' that he will not have his existing contract extended and that this will cause him to take a pay cut if he stays with Williams.

The journalist has justified that he has 'accepted' it probably through this quote of Mark: "(If) the original plan's not going to work, we have to work something else." Which sounds quite accepting.

However the incorrect interpretation is to assume that he has signed the newly offered contract already.

I think Damon was let go by Frank....

I doubt Arrows will be paying more than Williams in 1997....

Nobody knows what is going on. I thought that we'd know after this weekend because Sr Williams' option on Webber expired at the last day of July. I thought they'd make an announcement Monday or so, but nothing. They would be crazy to let Webber go, he's a great driver and has a lot of potential, but the car seems to fail him over and over again this season.

I don't really think that he'll move to Renault as I think that the seats are all taken: Fisico-Kimi or Fisico-Heikki. And since there aren't much race seats left, he should take his pay-cut to stay in F1.

btw: What about Rosberg this weekend?? Friday, during the free practice sessions he slipped off very close to us and what does he during the first lap on Sunday, he slips off in the SAME corner!! What a mistake! Webber is much better than Rosberg. I understand that Rosberg is a rookie, but he does a lot of stupid things. Webber is so good in an F1 car. He really should stay in F1. If it's not with Williams, than with another team, tough there aren't much options left.

I was never quite sure what was going on, I'm pretty sure there was some dispute involving money, but, as you say, doesn't seem plausible that Arrows could've paid more. Apparantly it had already been confirmed he was being replaced by Frentzen a while before he won the champ in 1996

Webber is definately more experienced, and I think that's mostly why he consistently outperforms his teammate. Webber seems to be 'on it' all the time. Rosberg kinda needs encouragement, like in Bahrain, in true sportsman style, he made a mistake, then absolutely flew his car round the track, determined to make it right.

Principessa, I've been following it but it's actually quite clear.

As of this day, the 1st of August, Mark has no contract for 2007. Frank Williams has offered him a contract for 2007. Mark has not signed it.

They are the only facts that are available at the moment.

This gives Mark the option to see what other teams have to offer at the risk of Williams signing up Wurz before Mark.

you have to remember to that webber drove for mercedes in the sports car class before he drove f1 and they said that he was an excellent driver,so that is how he might get into maclaren.he needs to get into a good package or it could end he's f1 career sooner rather than latter.
i'm not sure but didn't alonso drive with webber for mindari or jaguar and webber out drove everywhere?

Yes it's official  http://www.f1technical.net/news/3638

I'm a fan of Wurz, but I don't understand why all of a sudden he gets the opportunity to be in a race seat again. He's getting a bit older too. But now we at least now

Probably a very smart signing by FW; he has the very fast, but young Rosberg. He now has the very fast and highly rated car development driver Alex Wurz........I seem to remember Wurz is not too shabby in a race either
