Could New Ideas in F1 Telemetry Design Be Inspired by Aviation Tracking Systems?

Post

Hey everyone,

Bit of a cross-domain curiosity here: I've been exploring how aviation tracking platforms like flightd.pro operate — realoperate—real-time flight data, positional accuracy, and public-facing telemetry. It's made me wonder how much overlap there is between systems used in aviation and those in motorsport, particularly F1.

Both environments deal with massive real-time data streams, rapid decision-making, and visualization challenges—yet we don't often see the two discussed together. Could elements of open-airspace tracking tech (like multilateration, ADS-B, or map-layer optimization) influence or inspire improvements in how we handle race telemetry, live timing, or fan-facing dashboards?

Would love to hear your thoughts—whether from a data, systems design, or UI/UX angle. Anyone here ever explored this kind of crossover?
