Technical Provenance: Early Bahrain GP Paddock Club "Hard Cards" issued to Cebarco/Gordon Calder

Post

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently bought some mid-2000s technical ephemera and wanted to reach out to those of you who specialize in the infrastructure/construction side of F1 memorabilia.

I have a series of Paddock Club "hard cards" from the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Bahrain Grands Prix. What makes these interesting to me is the provenance: the majority state hosted by Cebarco / Guest of Ceberco (the lead contractor) and, in several cases, are personally "Hosted By" Gordon Calder.

For those who remember the "Rock to Race" era, Calder was the Project Manager who delivered the Sakhir circuit in that record-breaking 16-month window. I’m trying to verify a few details about these "Contractor Tier" passes:

I’ve noticed the reverse-side gate maps show specific codes like CV (Circuit Complex) and T1 (Tower). Does anyone know if these "Hosted by Calder/Cebarco" passes granted broader access to the technical admin areas of the VIP Tower compared to a standard corporate sponsor pass?

Looking at the 2005 vs. 2007 and 2008 cards, there’s a clear shift in the holographic security and the fidelity of the gate legends. Was this a localized update by the BIC, or part of a wider FOM-mandated security overhaul during the mid-2000s?

Most Paddock Club passes I see are either generic or sponsored by brands like Gulf Air. How common was it for the actual engineering firms (like Cebarco) to have their own branded run of hard cards for the years after the track was completed?

Looking forward to any insights you all might have.
