Joining F1

Post

Hi i'm from Turkey. Im keen on F1 also motorsports. I am entering a university in my country this year. I have a talent on programming, codeing, algorthyms... And planning to choose Computer Engineering - Software Engineering.. And I want to take a part in F1 as a system / software engineer.. Maybe its about ecu s or track - data analyse softwares. I know about ATLAS (McLaren's Track-Data analysing software) or softwares like that.... Then i am thinking of staying at university to plus graduate on Software Engineering. If you can show some sources about this topic... I'll be happy...

Thanks

something tells me you be way over qualified to be a trackside systems analysist. Its kind of like being a data entry clerk.
software engineering is different story though.
You could always write to mclaren electronic systems and see if you can get a work placement for a few weeks.

Over qualified! I think not. Trackside data analysis is by far a job for data entry clerks. This is a job for highly skilled engineers, that have to work with realtime data, and filter out relevant info for the race engineers. The volume of data recorded on a modern F1 car is vast, and requires engineers with a high level of experience and capablity to interprete the results and feedback relevant information. Software programming is essential at all levels within the control aspect of the cars managment systems. Be that trackside, or otherwise. The skills outlined at the origin of this thread would be highly valuable in an F1 team.

How to get them know and make your enterance, now that's a totally different question......

Start with lower teams, try as hard as you possibly can to impress top teams, if your favorite team wants to sign you, just let them do it. :)
