Help! VTS or 1.4 TSI ???

Post

Hi folks, I am willing to buy a new car. I have two options. C4 VTS 2.0 180 bHp or VW Jetta 1.4 TSI 170 Hp. I am between those two options, and i like driving fast so what do u advise?
Note: I'll buy it tomorrow. (: Thx

Yeah, go on buy a car that will never win WDC.

Perhaps VW is more reasonable but I'd never give it a second though - you only live once. C4!

Saddly the C4 that Seb drives shares very few parts with the road version, I do like a French chic though.

Frankly for that kind of cash I might invest in a cheap, ready built kitcar, far more fun.

That's what I'm thinking, you could get something interesting, a more of a drivers car (okay maybe a bit older than the VW), than paying the same money for a VW Jetta.......But I suppose you might not be looking for that

Thx for your opinions. But VW has the same chasis on Jetta between 140 Hp and 170 Hp models. Isn't it important. I think C4 is optimised for 180 Hp, but Jetta 170 Hp' s chasis and suspension is the same with Jetta 140 Hp. Will i have a problem with them while steering in curves with high speed.

Honestly in a road car it won't make a gram of difference. Before you worry about what the chassis is doing cornering at high speeds you should perfect your driving. There is far more grip, speed and time to be gained in a road car through the driver than through the chassis. Both cars are designed to pick up shopping for an old granny really, they don't give a toss about its handling 100mph+

My driving skill is really good. On the other hand you' re right. But why VTS is in another place in the category? I think grannies can't handle 180 Hp easily. (: I mean Jetta is Jetta (only engine difference), but C4 VTS isnt C4. It's in the sport category. And a last question. Which of them can be modified (not body, only for performance) easily?

c/\d, have you already bought it? if you dont need the room, why not go with a golf gt? the steering is much better, weights less and is better balanced. the 1.4tsi is a sick machine with its fwd and low end torque, but feels a bit weak on the top. if you want to tune the engine, deffinately the 1.4 tsi, a turbo and compressor give a pretty good edge over tuning a free aspirating french car :)

Isn't the Golf GT with the turbo that makes the car 'as comfortable as falling down stairs' as Jeremy Clarkson said?
