This is a really interesting video of a NASCAR valve spring running at 7000 rpm. The example is from a 7 year old engine but is almost exactly the same to what is racing today.
"I was having a ---" - Kimi Riakkonens response to Martin Brundles questioning of why he had missed Peles presentation to Michael Schumacher before the Brazilian GP 2006.
And it's nothing to poo poo about. Those springs have to close large valves, at the limit of material science. And to top it off, they have to do it for hours and hours, 500, 600 miles (as well as practice and qualifying). Those puppies run red hot, and have to live in a constant oil spray to survive.
And as displayed, a lot of harminics going on between all the different parts. Get it wrong, and it's done blown up, bubba.
