I believe i read somewhere that Nick wasn't actually going for a full speed timed lap, but more of a "show" for the BMW motorsport division, but then again i could be wrong, or they could have changed the purpose of the actual lap(s)

Seems pretty cool though

Don't think so. A few seasons ago Clarkson tackled the Nordscheife with a Jaguar and if I remember well the time was about 11 minutes.

Dude...he was in a Jag S-type diesel///pathetic acceleration...and he clocked 9min 52secs...when i said prod cars,i obviously meant cars with 400+bhp or maybe 500+bhp

There isn't much point in comparing old F1 times at the ring, the circuit has changed quite a bit since then, most notably the 'new' nurburgring was added in the early eighties.

I remember a couple of years ago Ant Davidson tried to set a decent lap on a PC version of the track and ended up with a time around 5 mins. I also remember at the time, F1 Racing commenting on just how insane it would be to attempt a full-chat lap of the track in a modern F1 car - all kudos to Nick but I doubt he will be allowed to really push - far to easy to have a career ending and highly embarrasing (for BMW) shunt around there!!

Another thing that would be interesting, Nick taking on the Nordschleife in the brand new E92 M3 !! (For full speed timed laps)

It was not Hammond, I think it was trulli, I am sure if you look on youtube you will find it.

I do love the nurburg ring, i really wanna go there and thrash some car/any car around there. I think the problem for the F1 car around there is the straights, they are very very long. I a large amount is flat out, and in an f1 car it will be able to take the corners very very fast. So i am not sure how they will gear the car up.
I believe in the chain of command, Its the chain I use to beat you till you do what i want!!!
