Real Madrid Livery

Post

Real Madrid has reached an agreement with a top Formula 1 team to have a car compete in the Spanish football club’s colours next season.

Real president Ramon Calderon would not reveal the identity of the team but said it would carry allegiance to the club at the Spanish Grand Prix and possibly also at other events.

“It’s with an important team – one that fights for victories – and it will be for at least one grand prix at Montmelo,” Calderon was quoted as saying by Marca.

“It’s a beautiful project and the design is already done – the cars will be painted all white with the Real Madrid logo.

“It will be especially sweet to compete in Barcelona with a big Madrid emblem.”

Among Real Madrid’s most avid fans in the F1 paddock is double world champion Fernando Alonso, whose popularity in Spain brought a capacity crowd of 131,000 to this year’s Barcelona race.

The 2007 Spanish GP will take place on May 13.

Any news on this "agreement" ? It seems to be forgotten by the media...

Interesting. I wonder how much Real is paying for this little publicity move.

McLaren may be painted white & blue colors of Real Madrid + logo. BenQ sponsors Real M teams and will not carry over to car. McLaren will likely have their regular sponsors logos also along with RM's.

They're gonna look a lot like the B'mers.

NOTE: McLaren is just my supposition, nothing more. There was not a word about ANY team in particular

Don't they need EVERY team's permission to change the color scheme during the season course? Like Spyker had in 2006?

PS: Robinho's pose looks funny tho... like he's getting ready to be kicked... and Roberto Carlos's trying to cheer him up showing his bravery

Wouldn't the most probable match-up be with McLaren? Real Madrid is a Spanish team and McLaren currently have two Spanish drivers in their line-up. And McLaren also have a few Spanish sponsors(?) I believe. I would like it to be McLaren though, it would offer a nice change from seeing the usual chrome-gray livery they have run for a while now. And Fernando would be really excited as well!

How is that chrome grey Mclaren "old" now. Yeah it looks crap, the Silver arrows from 1997-2005 (oh man, esp 2005) were the best looking cars ever to me.

Dont put words in my mouth, so to speak, I never said "old". I said it would be a nice change from the "usual chrome-gray livery they have run for a while now". And "a while now" could possibly be from '97 to now. To be honest, I am not a fan of chrome/shiny objects, much less when it comes to cars, whether they are motorsport or personal ones. You make my point in the beginning of your second sentence though.

And why must you take my comment so negatively? This thread is not about McLaren liveries, it is about the possible Real Madrid livery on a current Formula 1 car(s), and which team might the partnership be with.

okok, you called the livery they are sporting now as usual. That's funny when it's in the 2nd year running.

My hunch is Red Bull, remember Superman / Star Wars? The Spanish connection is the Barcelona track imo & it will give Real one over on their rivals Barca in their own back yard.

The deal was signed 2 months ago!

Las tyear Red Bull also had an agreement with Barcelona FC...the team spent almost 2 million in clothing....but Barcelona cancelled the publicity stunt at the last moment!

At the time Red Bull was negociating with both Barça and with Real.
