Honda's new site

Post

Hi,

I noticed that after being offline for a couple of days, the Honda site is back...new version that is:
http://www.hondaracingf1.com/

It looks cool, but I will have to get used to it...it's less synoptic than the previous one.

Flash site looks good! However to be quite honest I think even I could have made that with a free flash maker programme

It has a pixalated design element that was popular in the 80's and that is becoming current once more - contasted with a black-block graphic accent - another 80's graphic design flourish - a very clean black and white magazine-ad type layout - lots of clean white backround paired with a lot of video content - Retro - Yes - OpArt Chic - But also Engineering Drawing Board Simple - I like it.

EDIT - Definitely not any OpArt elements - got carried away as a critic

It's an improvement and

that's always important. Renault seems to be ways ahead in the interactivity department of their web presence still (webchats, blogs, SecondLife and all), but Honda's effort definitely is a welcome one. Keep up the good work. Maybe, once the Earth car design blows over (if it does, not that I especially want to see it go), they could apply those clean graphic elements to their livery, too?

Renault is, if I'm not mistaken, the only team that launches a new site every year and always at the same time they launch there car.

Ferrari should really take that into consideration! Their website at the moment is a few years old now, and is really boring. Definately not the best out there at the moment. They should spruce things up with a new one, maybe for the '08 season at least?

Regarding the Honda F1 site, it wasnt bad at all, I actually visited it and it seemed pretty good. Good information and it pretty straight forward, shows supplieres, technical partners, etc. Good web page design, it's just the actual F1 car design that doesnt do or look good!

Well, I think it's not completely ready yet, the Honda site. The media site is still down so they are still working on it and you can't find everything back on the new Honda site...there used to be a Features section and there was more explanation of the car...maybe it's still coming back
