Mazda Taiki concept

Post

So I have a more technical question for you aero-minded folk out there:

Is there any aerodynamic merit to either the front or the rear wheel fairing design? Or is it just a flashy, gimmicky concept car?

My uneducated guess is that its the former, since the smaller mirror (possibly a design for camera) suggests attention to drag reduction

nobody can judge an aerodynamic profile by the eyes.

This is complex and sometimes vehicules that seems not to aerodynamic are in fact very good and vice versa.

It only brings me questions, curiosity, like the rear wings fairings and the interaction inside them between the wheels and the body work.

A part from that it looks slender and profiled but that's just looks.

I like the

Taiki concept quite a lot - not unreservedly, but quite a lot still. Actually to the point of considering whether or not i should post something about it here. In the end I didn't bother, but now that it's out in the open, I recommend a visit to the Mazda website to check it out.

The Mazda Taki is the 4th Mazda concept of the Nagare family expressing the ideal of 'flow'... the Taki channeling the airsteam inside the rear wheels suggest an idea that may be related to the effect of an underbody tunnel or defuser effect. The car suggests a cascade of ideas ... flow>blobjects>bioengineering> the bio-jet propulsion of the octopus and at the same time expresses beauty.

I can't tell how a car will slice tha air by looking either, unless the car is obviouisly one giant diffuser.

How true
Racing cars are neither beautiful nor ugly, they are beautiful only when you win races.
