Aerofoil programs?

Post

Is there any free programs that will display simple aerofoil data like this ..

So i can view the ideal figures in this program and compare them to real life data that has been collected for experimental purposes? Thankyou.

There are some

online tools, but they have fairly severe limitations as to their applicability and usefulness. You can calculate NACA 4 shapes here (link) and NACA 5 shapes here (link), those are old DLR (German Aerospace Center) Java applications. You can put some of those foils to the test at Kevin D. Jones' Panel Code V2 (link), but be sure to read through the "manual" of the utility before doing anything since, as said, it has limitations.

There are downloadable 2D and 3D shareware programs available, They've come up in several threads where those are discussed in some manner or form if I remember it correctly.

For the above

you of course need to understand NACA codes, I think they're adequately explained in Kevin D. Jones' site. If you're in need of software that achieves anything beyond mere basics in panel code, you may want to wade through the following resources:

CFD-Online software links
Dr. William Mason's Software for Aerodynamics and Aircraft Design links
UIUC Airfoil Data Site
Dan Raymer's aircraft design website

XFoil and OpenFoam come to mind as examples of general public license CFD software.

Thankyou :)
very good links.

It was pressure distribution of a NACA 23012 (probably the most well known!!). I found plenty of journals and things, however, all used a flap, and for this experiment a flap was not used. But thanks again, this has helped greatly, much appreciated. :)
