Does anyone know the dates of the 2008 F1 cars launches
Is there any team planning for an early launch in 2007
In 2007 almost all the teams had an evolved 2006 car , ( Mc Laren MP4/22 - MP4/21 , Williams , Toyota , Ferrari etc ) . I think in 2008 teams would build completely new cars from clear sheet . New rules demand a new approach to car designing and teams must even think of 2009
I don’t think any team will have a clean sheet car (Well may be Honda). The ECU and gearbox rules wont change the layout of the car. There might be some small changes to some cars layouts to optimise the car to the tyres a bit better (RedBull most likely). Thus we will mainly evolutions, most teams will working hard on their front wings and it seems most will try front wheel discs.
I will be at many of the launches and will try to post some pics from the events or soon after…

Renault – Late January – normally away from a track and reflecting the sponsors needs
Ferrari – first week of January probably at Maranello
McLaren – first week of January, but wont invite many press
Toyota – 9th January in Cologne
Honda – Mid January probably in Spain (Barca or Valencia)
BMW Sauber - 12th January in Munich, then in Valencia next day
Ferrari's 2008 car is to be launched on 7 January, according to an apparent slip-of-the-tongue by new world champion Kimi Raikkonen.
The German magazine Auto Motor und Sport suggests that the Finn mistakenly revealed the information to the media, thinking that his Maranello based employer had already announced the news.
Ferrari's head of track activities Luca Baldisserri had already revealed that the new car, to be an 'evolution' of the current F2007, will be tested for the first time at Jerez on 14 January.
Auto Motor und Sport also reports that McLaren intends to have its MP4-23 completed by the first week of January, while Toyota and Williams all want to go to the Jerez test in mid-January with their 2008 cars.
BMW Sauber will launch the F1.
08 on 14 January before testing it at Valencia a day later, while Red Bull has scheduled to have its Adrian Newey-penned RB4 up and running around the same time.
Honda will reportedly present the new RA108 at Valencia on 21 January, while Renault appears headed for a launch in the last week of the month.
Force India, meanwhile, is expected to launch its first Formula One campaign under new ownership in Delhi, the Indian capital.
It is believed that Super Aguri and Toro Rosso will begin the 2008 season with their existing cars.
I thought most launches will not show many new technical aspects of the car, just promotional stuff and the showing of the new paint job?
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

Most cars are the new chassis, Although they might not always have the latest wings on and the diffuser might be hidden. You can still learn a lot from the cars; the layout, some of the detail and best of all is that the technical directors a lined up to answer questions (the only time of the year).

I believe Renault and ING have a multi-year contract, thus making me believe that the R28´s livery will be very similar to that of the R27, albeit some minor sponsorship decals changes (?).
