Ferrari crash pic: who and what?

Post

Hi guys,
here's a Ferrari crash pic, but does anyone know where this was taken or who this is?

I see there is Kroymans on the car, so I suspect it is either related to some Dutch driver or a fake image.

This was mentioned on the forum a while back. I can't seem to find it though.

However, here's a link with some information on the crash.

I've read somewhere that the cockpit was heavily modified to fit that hapless driver, so that caused it to break in half.

I can't imagine how the tube can break without breaking the drivers legs.

Secondly how can it breake on this position with a sharp cut?
This area, the driver survival cell, should be made from one part.
But it looks like it's made from two parts and broke at the conection.

I can remember reading in 'Racecar Engineering' and an article about this, I seem to recall that the cause was ageing and fatigue of the carbon fibre. I will see if I can find it and post it.

Looks like it broke right at the bulkhead.
Looking forward to more posts on this. Looks like the driver was OK?
What model is that?

It was Kroymans, the Dutch Ferrari importer at the wheel himself.

I still say Ferrari sold him superglued Schuey's 1999 Silverstone car with replaced chassis numbers (193 instead of 192).

You're just kidding or your read somewhere about that crashed car missing?

The more I look at that pic the more I'm convinced that nothing of that size, especially multi composite chassis can snap like that. That's a perfect vertical cut. Nose intact!

Can anyone define that brighter structure, is that Kevlar? Or glue?

How would you lengthen the monocoque without cutting it in half?
