Vettel Question

Post

Does anyone know of Vettel's full contract obligations? The main thing I am wondering is about BMW. Do they still have some long term options or strings on him?

I don't know, but a Vettel/Alonso pairing in 2011 at BMW might be a nitemare for many team principals...

Except Theissen, of course!

I have quoted in another thread a German site that claimed the Red Bull contract runs to the end of 2010.

I believe that Heidfeld wanted to keep his seat until that time and BMW probably will try to keep Kubica. Now it looks like they also have an option to run Alonso/Kubica the next two years and switch to Vettel for 2011.

Vettel has contractual ties with BMW since he drove FBMW and worked as their F1 test and reserve driver later. If that is enough to make him return rests to be seen. They will probably be very secretive about it.

I'm not 100 percent sure but if I recall correctly BMW gets for choice after his contract with Red Bull is over, it would be stupid for them to pass but I think the plan from BMW's side was to let him go to Red Bull give him a few years experience and see if he is for real so they dont get rid of a driver and rush him into a seat and it turn out to be a mistake.
