God knows how they could do anything nuclear and get permission for it from the various governments that would want to be involved.

Maybe Either it´s something we haven´t seen yet in a car or it´s exsisting technology with a major breaktrough... or none of those two. Maybe they´re making too much dust about nothing, everything´s possible

Well according to Wikipedia those used in spacecraft have generated up to 390W of electrical power, with 7.2KW of heat. So the electrical conversion is very inefficient - you'd want, if possible, to do something with the heat as well.

That's about 0.5 horsepower, if you ignore the heat element, so not very good. However if it were used to charge an electrical system that provided a couple of hundred miles of capacity, then it may be able to keep it well charged enough when not in use to keep you going for a couple of years.

Seeing as there is only forty years of oil left according to some estimates this stuff is going to go nuts in the next ten years. I was speaking to an electronics engineer at Lotus recently who believes that we soon see classes in hill climbing for electric vehicles.
