"Despite Ferrari having announced that Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen will both remain on-board until the end of the 2010 Formula 1 campaign, speculation persists within the grand prix paddock that Fernando Alonso could yet be seen in scarlet overalls next season."

If the lame reporter that cannot come up with a substancial story finds himself in the F1 paddock with the press then he can report this as he is the idiot thats speculating this.

There is no way this would happen as this topic has been repeatedly discussed and shut down before

Alonso signs with Ferrari from 2011 to 2014. After that, the spanish paper Marca also published the news.

http://www.gazzetta.it/Motori/Formula1/ ... ioni.shtml

Cesare Fiorio y Giancarlo Minardi applauded the arrival of Alonso to Ferrari. "He is like a second Schumacher, he is better than Hamilton because he doesnt make mistakes" but.... Maranello stays in silence...

The truth is nothing is official nor confirmed.

Another truth is Santander will be Ferrari sponsor in 2010 and was the same bank who was McLaren sponsor when Alonso was there.

Then, after "La Gazzetta" bomb, Lius Garcia Abad who is Alonso´s manager, says "its not a secret Alonso wants to be in Ferrari, but we are far away from 2011 and its too early to talk about that."

If Alonso goes to Ferrari, maybe I´ll start to like Ferrari again

It keeps amazing me that every news-site immediately forwards every bit of rumors by the Gazzetta. Haven't they learned not to trust them with speculative rumors regarding Alonso and/or Ferrari?

I saw this announced in spanish TV on sunday, December 28. For most of you this is an unremarkable day, but here in spain it's called "Santos Inocentes", which is similar to April Fool's day.

Of course, I didn't believe this at all at first, and reading the news in the original "La Gazzetta" (I wouldn't believe any "man in the middle") gave it some slight credibility. However, does anybody know when is the "fool's day" in Italy? According to my rigorous wikipedian research, it's also April 1st, but I'm not 100% sure.

Thank you Miguel, I think that explains the story about Senor Slim and the helicopter as well.

What helicopter story do you refer to, xpensive? I've been a bit off Formula 1 lately. Also, the honda rumours seem very very weak, and could partially be attributed to an "innocent prank". In Mexico after all it's also celebrated on 28 December.

There was a story about Slim's helicopter coming to land in Brackley and, since the heliport wasn't big enough, they cleared out the parking-lot.

Slim is a secretive guy. His racing team put out a statement saying it's all rubbish, which makes it 100% certain that the story MIGHT be true. Possibly.

Alonso to Ferrari in 2009? No.

2010? Yes.

But what if . . . Kimi wins the WDC in 2009? Ditch him for Alonso? Ferrari can be bizarre, but they're no Williams.

Alonso should go to Ferrari in 2010, not 2009. Santander already confirm they are sponsoring Ferrari in 2010.

Personally, I would love to see Alonso in McLaren (or any winning car in 2008) but as it has been said, Alonso is very much teaching Hamilton all the secrets the more he stays there and treated unfairly.

The same goes to Kovalainen who end up the #2 driver by default when he join Mclaren. I think since Hamilton joined Mclaren F1, the equal driver treatment is thrown away. I think this is back to the days of Mika Hakkinen (#1) and David Couthard (#2) for Mclaren.

Alonso is the best car development driver in F1, no question about it. His move to Mclaren was smart on account of the tire situation but incredibly bad timing with Hamilton coming to F1. The Renault is going to be a rocket in Australia and will only improve. My preference would be to see him stay at Renault, it proves that you don't need special treatment from the FIA or espionage to have a fast car, you only need the best driver in the world.

Plus I love hearing Marcha Real and then La Marseillaise. 17 rounds next season? I think I'll be hearing both SEVERAL times next year.
