Perhaps they were afraid that the Nick Fry would embarrass them, one way or the other?

because they are already struggling with their KERS system and cannot alocate any technical assistance to another team.

I think that Domenicalli's words can be understood as "knowing how things go we don't think team from Brackley would ask for engines".

The lack of sponsorship means the x-honda team can't pay for the engine. thats why the deal is off. Ferrari don't really care if x-honda wins races with their engine. Ferrari already supplies engine to Force India and STR and both teams are very competitive.

Right on the money, jamsbong, Cosworth learned that the hard way with Tom Walkinshaw's Arrows team, didn't he? I am a little puzzled why Mercedes seems to be so positive though.

Because they qualified it by saying that they would be happy to supply if the correct financial guarantees are in place. So if x-Honda paid for the year up front, for example, why would they be worried?

Something which never will happen of course, why Mercedes gets kudos for nothing, right?

Mercedes have some good tuners who look after various motor sport activities for them. There have often been rumors that they may support another works team which would not be a problem given their capacity at MBHPE Ltd. It is difficult to imagine where the money would come from but stranger things have happenend in the past (Red Bull buying Minardi).

If F1 really does a huge cost cut for next year they could hope to run two teams off this years budget. And in times of testing prohibitions another team would be handy.
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best .............................. organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)
