DDD Conspiracy?

Post

I cant believe that 3 teams could find similar loopholes in the 2009 FIA Regulations.. Could it be someone sold this idea to these three teams??

I believe that Anthony Davidson reported on the BBC that Super Aguri had experimented with the idea in the past, so I don't think that it is entirely out of the question that the teams could have stumbled across it independently ...

The different implementations of the idea between the 3 teams also indicates that the design wasn't originating from a single source.

No conspiracy...

It appears that the idea initially came from a engineer at Honda R&D in Tochigi, this was fed back to the Honda & Super Aguri teams. When Aguri folded, Ben Wood took the idea on at Honda, while one member of staff headed to Toyota. Quite how Williams got wind of this isn’t clear, but probably from cross pollination of engineers.

Aguri were a great think tank for aero ideas, they even had a Ferrari 2008 style “nose hole” running long before it appeared on the F2008.

That's sound very interesting , is there any picture of Super Aguri's nose hole or DDD ?

When did he say this? I've heard all practice sessions so far, was it in a podcast or something i might've missed?

thanks.

No, I saw the ‘nose hole’ at the factory, it was never track tested as they made it for the tunnel and not to be crash tested. The teams financial troubles prevented it being developed. As they were running the 07 Honda, they were able to do some work on the 2009 rules, but folded before any designs got beyond simulations.

I'm not entirely certain when he said it, but I'm pretty certain it was during one of the practice sessions during one of the first two grand prix ...

I've been watching all of the practise sessions too & that's the only time that I actually hear Mr Davidson's commentary!!!

Re: DDD Conspiracy?

i always thought that DDD was legal in 2008, but questionable in 2009. are you guys saying that there was no DDD until now and that they all find this loophole at the same time in 2009, sounds like a real conspiracy now

please explain.

No. I think that CW hatched the idea, showed it to MrM, who passed it on to RB, all in order to mess with Luca & Ron.

CW didn't need to come up with the idea : remember that Red Bull and Renault referred their designs to CW for clarification. All he had to do was turn down the French powered squads and get Bernie to pass the schematics on to the two independent British teams (there's nothing like a little patriotism) ;)

I guess that CW thought the Renault powered teams had enough of an advantage, what with being able to update their engines ...

Williams could then flog the design on to Toyota to pay for their engine supply (money's getting tight now that RBS is effectively nationalised) and there we are!

Can I take this hat off now? I'm allergic to tin-foil!

Re: DDD Conspiracy?

RB supposedly raised the possibility of a DDD in march last year, or so this interview states: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/74282
anyone could have picked up on that and made their own, i really dont think there was a conspiracy.

Re: DDD Conspiracy?

Makes a lot of sense that grid, but I'm still sure CW had to ask MrM to explain the RBR & Renault drawings to him,
when there is no way the old Brabham spanner-man could have figured out those things on his own?

That's not an allergy, it's the rays getting to your brain, you need thicker grade foil, quickly.

Hurry up, there's not much time! :o
