But ultimately the pole should be celebrated, I was bouncing when he crossed the line just like when Dan did in Monza

That’s true… But, the impact of Pole for the Team and for a driver like Lando is huge… Braking that glass ceiling and validating what you are doing builds momentum and increases motivation… This bodes well for next year!

Wow. I am afraid I will soon wake up and find out that these past few weeks were just a dream. A 1-2 last race. Pole position now. It is more than I could ask for. Where does this end? We waited so long since 2012 and now all of a sudden we are serious contenders for the win on two following weekends.

Pole position is pretty worthless around here, but let’s wait and see what tomorrow brings. We should have a car that is fast enough to defeat the Ferrari and the Williams, even if we are P3 after T1.

If the conditions are the same as today we have a good chance of getting a victory even against the Mercedes. On normal conditions the Mercedes are faster but one is to get close to a car and another to pass it. Till Hamilton reaches Norris he might as well damaged his tyres on his battles with those on our back.

There has to be a little bit of regret from Carlos… He might be thinking that he made the switch a year too soon

Considering Sainz starts on the dirty side I think Lando has a good chance of leading the start of the race. Let's see if the Williams or Lewis pressures Sainz to destroy his tyres. In any case I am hoping for conditions that will benefit Mclaren to get a second victory. This is so much 1997 and that gives me tremendous positive feeling for next year considering what happened last time.

It smells like 1997 but back then we did not have a such a drastic rules change in 1998, regs were more or less the same, so its open for all next year, we can't take anything from this season only the great team spirit which we certainly have.

I said it tongue in cheek too, he probably won’t be too concerned... his goal is to be WDC and will think his best bet it’s with the Ferrari

Oh… Absolutely… The thing is, with how McLaren is operating now, he may have a had as much of a chance in Orange as he does in Red.

Hard not to cheer for him though, he was a class act while in the Team and part of the success we are experiencing today is thanks to him.

Amazing results for the team, once again! 1-2 in Monza, Pole Position in Sochi, what a redemption for this team after all of those years of tough times and hard work! Keep this up!
