Now I know, why they feel the need to promote the "we race as one" campaign every race. What happend to "diverse teams"? Now they're all brittish? lol
It's the legacy of the garistes -- small racing teams based near Silverstone, England, who mainly used Cosworth DFV engines^ and Hewland gearboxes. Somehow these rogues like Chapman, Brabham and Tyrrell thought they could take on the might of Scuderia Ferrari!
Ironically, Toyota was based in Germany, but Mercedes and Renault both preferred to purchase gariste teams -- in Mercedes case even contracting a British specialist for engine building too, even though their historic efforts were conducted in-house.
At least the Renault power units are built by Renault in France, for whatever reason chassis operations remain in the capable hands of Benetton.
Strangely too, the BMWs were manufactured in Hinwill, Switzerland rather than BMW headquarters in Munich.
^ Of course in the 1.5L era, it was mainly Cooper engines, with initially a diverse ranges of units trialled for the 3.0L regulations until the structural Cosworth dual four valve came to prominence.

Where do Alfa Romeo come from in your view? They race under the swiss flag I believe.
Are you sure? That doesn't sound right. Why would the Swiss anthem play, even if Alfa Romeo's sponsorship is only a small 20m EUR per season?
Everyone knows Alfa Romeo is Italian after all.
Edit -- You are right! What a farce!
I guess FCA are not expecting to contend for the title and have Alfa Romeo win races regularly, else it would be quite the embarrassment and insult to the proud Milano marque to have the Swiss anthem played inside of Il Canto degli Italiani. Did the Ferrari-prepared Alfa Romeos race as Swiss in the 1930's AIACR European Championship? Surely not!
Of course, electrically recorded music and the vacuum tube was in it's infancy at that time (with acoustic recording being the preferred method for shellac records), and I suppose anthems were played (if they were) courtesy of a brass band?
