Yet again Ham again showing he can’t handle pressure. He needs engines that are 2 seconds faster a lap to win championships. Pathetic.
I’m curious how exactly would more engine power helped him avoid the wall?

Aston Martin,mclaren,Williams all British teams
Mercedes is British too, apart from the engine. RB is also british apart from the owner´s nationality and the Japanese engine.

Outside of Ferrari, Toro Rosso and Sauber, most teams are based in England
Where is the Mercedes Engine from ? I thought is was designed and built in Brixworth

I think he just meant there’s 4 different teams in the top 5 places… British only related to the drivers, but anyway…

Now I know, why they feel the need to promote the "we race as one" campaign every race. What happend to "diverse teams"? Now they're all brittish? lol

Only 3 teams are British, just like only Leclerc is Monegasque driver although most of them have residence in Monaco.

Where do Alfa Romeo come from in your view? They race under the swiss flag I believe. Where they are based. If we went by that logic, 6 teams are based in Britain. Take Mercedes as an example. 1/3rd owned by German company, 1/3rd Austrian and 1/3rd British. Then add most staff are British, The car is designed and built in Britain. The engine is designed and built in Britain. Next year both drivers are British too

Its hard to not call the team British really.

Mercedes has the fastest car this season. Why are they making such a meal of this championship?

Nice to see the greatest teams in F1 starting 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Crazy that's a big surprise these days.
No it isn’t! It’s simply the work of a Toot.
I told everyone yonks ago that it would take no more than two laps before Newey would realise that a merc motor in his car was not quite the same as the motor in merc-works car.
It’s been done to swamp out HONDA Power from front of grid.
Easy by laptop, these days don’t yer know.

They aren't that fast, its track dependent just like with Rebbull imo.

Dry race track tomorrow?

The top 6 drivers are the non back down types apart from Lewis.

Start should be interesting!

Strategy wise is it a one stop race and well will the stops be taken?
For Sure!!

It's the legacy of the garistes -- small racing teams based near Silverstone, England, who mainly used Cosworth DFV engines^ and Hewland gearboxes. Somehow these rogues like Chapman, Brabham and Tyrrell thought they could take on the might of Scuderia Ferrari! :)

Ironically, Toyota was based in Germany, but Mercedes and Renault both preferred to purchase gariste teams -- in Mercedes case even contracting a British specialist for engine building too, even though their historic efforts were conducted in-house.

At least the Renault power units are built by Renault in France, for whatever reason chassis operations remain in the capable hands of Benetton.

Strangely too, the BMWs were manufactured in Hinwill, Switzerland rather than BMW headquarters in Munich.

^ Of course in the 1.5L era, it was mainly Cooper engines, with initially a diverse ranges of units trialled for the 3.0L regulations until the structural Cosworth dual four valve came to prominence.

Are you sure? That doesn't sound right. Why would the Swiss anthem play, even if Alfa Romeo's sponsorship is only a small 20m EUR per season?

Everyone knows Alfa Romeo is Italian after all.

Edit -- You are right! What a farce! :wtf: I guess FCA are not expecting to contend for the title and have Alfa Romeo win races regularly, else it would be quite the embarrassment and insult to the proud Milano marque to have the Swiss anthem played inside of Il Canto degli Italiani. Did the Ferrari-prepared Alfa Romeos race as Swiss in the 1930's AIACR European Championship? Surely not!

Of course, electrically recorded music and the vacuum tube was in it's infancy at that time (with acoustic recording being the preferred method for shellac records), and I suppose anthems were played (if they were) courtesy of a brass band?

Oh dear, not this.

It's marginal at best, the ratio of wins suggest the Red Bull is perhaps a fraction quicker. Unfortunately Verstappen has lost a lot of points, as has Perez. Else Red Bull's WCC score could be much higher.

They are seen as whatever they are entered as:

Jordan - Ireland
Midland - Russia
Spyker - Netherlands
Force India - India
Racing Point - Canada
Aston Martin - United Kingdom

While Eddie Jordan may have based the team near Silverstone for practical and logistical reasons, there was never any doubt about his intention to have the Irish national anthem played.
