Didnt HAM also deny the call for inters at first? Both wanted to stay out and I also thought they could make it the 3 laps. But in once case the team over ruled and that's the difference between a good team and a wcc team. Look at Ferrari. Strategy "F" again on the first stop and then Carlos took the job of telling the team what to do. Just like Vettel always had to.
The only broadcast message we heard was Carlos telling the team that the tires would be needed since he was seeing the rain was coming. In conditions like this, it’s the drivers call to switch the tires. Norris, Leclerc, Alonso --- it up. We did not hear Leclerc radio to say anything about the decision process. Making stupid statements about a team’s strategy when they got it on point for one of their drivers is pretty naive to say the least.
They messed up with the first stop and went from p2 all the way down and were stuck in traffic for half the race. Team expected a top 5 finish max and then they just copied the top teams when the rain came and lucked into a podium.

As Mercedes showed (once again), it's also the teams job to over rule driver's calls if they don't have all the information. What better example do you need than the guys and girls who have just won the gp?

Ah, so they all stayed out a lap or two too long for fear of losing a position or two, and ended up losing out big time? All gambling on the rain not getting heavier I suppose.

Exactly the same as poor Lando’s predicament. Both Hamilton and Verstappen were in the handy position of being able to take a gamble and have nothing to lose but a lot to gain on the lap(s) they came in.
I could be wrong but Norris could have come in the lap later when it was clear he was losing time and didn’t.
I can only think of thats the case that they realised as soon as Hamilton put a few seconds on him in less than a lap they realised the win was gone if they followed suit, so rolled the dice on staying out. If they were going for championship points above the race win then I’m sure they’d have called him in.

For Hamilton it was always going to be second place at worst so it was a much more straightforward decision to be risk averse.
IIRC it was a 7 second loss in 1 lap of 4 and that was clear long before he came to the pit entry. It was never on and Norris needed that spelling out to him.

So Lando claims the team did not tell how wet the track was becoming…

Lando summoned to the stewards for pit lane violation.

Just saw some onboards from Max ... Sainz went off track when both were on slicks and then they all stayed out one more lap and he just drove past them. Really good call, got the inters on the perfect lap.
Was that also one lap before Hamilton stopped for inters ? I vaguely recall a Merc coming in together to pit with a Red Bull, might've been the first stops tho Image

I predict we will see some people grabbing team audio in the not too-
distant future that will make him look very foolish for saying such a thing.

Lol, more like skill and determination under pressure.

No, it's pure luck. https://i.imgur.com/fjuJVpW.gif
He listened to his team when he should have, which is exactly what Lando didn't do.
Mercedes told him rain will get heavier, Mclaren told Lando rain will ramain same.

Even if it remaindered the same, it was obvious that slicks were no longer a good idea.

Hamilon and Verstappen pitted together on the first stops, yeah. But they were then split on track by Russell and Ricci

Lando got too greedy.
I would have liked to see him on inters fight Lewis for the win.
He is showing a pattern of greediness. Did so in Spa when he had his big crash and did so today.
Good rain driver, but what makes you great is knowing how much to bite off before you choke.
For Sure!!

Despite Norris’s mistake not going to inters mclaren have been rather handy these last 2 races fastest car in Monza and very competitive here be interesting to see if this form continues they could give merc/redbull a headache if this carries on didn’t expect them to carry over the gd pace from monza

Max was (7), did get Sainz on track (6), lost the position to Vettel (7) when he pitted, overtook him (6), then overtook Perez (5) early on the lap, then Alonso (4) and Leclerc (3) and finally Norris who was just entering the pits (2).
Image

He pitted on the same lap as Sainz, two before Alonso, Perez and Vettel, one earlier than Lewis and two earlier than Leclerc and Norris ...

Oh hey look a three stopper (Tsunoda) completely missed him going on softs....

Perez will probably feel as though he missed out a shot at the win. If he didn't have that slow stop he could've jumped the Sainz train and been closer to Hamilton and Norris then could have capitalised on the rain.

Not more greedy than a young Max or Lewis were. It is all about driving more mature, but keep the fresh pace in future.
