The Formula1.com Friday Analysis by Barretto seems to show that the Team effectively is there or thereabouts with Ferrari, even though it might be trailing them a bit according to the data from Friday… Qualifying seems to be pretty even between both, while the race pace seems to be a bit concerning, although showing Mclaren only a couple tenths behind Ferrari:

What caught my attention though was the performance analysis by type of corner, with McLaren showing competitiveness against Ferrari in Slow Corners, and an slight edge in Medium Speed Corners… But the one key piece of information seem to be on the Straight Line performance analysis… We all know that Ferrari has a new engine, but McLaren appearing to be the slowest of all teams in the straight is something that we all know is very debatable (especially after the Monza and Sochi performances) and simply shows what we’ve known for a while now and that’s that McLaren has a tendency to really run their PU’s on the low side during practice.

I mean, McLaren is 0.5s slower than Ferrari on straights? That's such an obvious sandbag. They haven't pushed the engine at all.

If it pans out like those graphs suggest come Sunday evening then the Sochi will sting even more🙈

A good race for Ferrari means Mclaren will loose grip on third. Again.

they do seem confident. Just running their usual friday evaluation - i wouldnt call it sand bagging, but its good to see they have confidence in themselves not to feel the need to push for times and keep those engines turned down. I dont think any of them expected the track to have so much grip, so could see a lot of over night set up changes

Yep, plenty of pace in that Mclaren for today. I'm not concerned about Ferrari right now.

I'm more interested in Daniels gap to Lando he seems confident at this point and I hope he can be close come P3 and Qualifying.

Across this season it has been a common trend and looked like it was a PU running conservative maps. I’m not in possession of the facts but my impression is that McLaren has enjoyed PU reliability, if true it would make sense. Anyone know where the McLarens stand with PUs while the works team are now in the penalty box?

Daniel and Lando were close so that is a nice sign.

Perfect job Daniel. A Haas in front of him. Awesome!

Absolutely horrible to be honest. Back to losing points to Ferrari for no reason.

It's so bad, especially here. Very important weekend to take as much points from Ferrari as possible, but then one of the drivers is slower than a fuc*ing Haas in Q1 ...

I mean... when you are slower than HAAS, there really is not much to add to that...
