The massively long straights?
The straights are quite far apart for some areas, could see people lose a lot of time behind back markers
I really think they'll just pull to one side, it's a wide track, I really don't think it'll be too much of a problem. Qualifying might be a bit different though.
It’s the opposite from what I see.

The curbs looks alot higher and dangerous than the f1 2021 games version
Better for track limits to raise kerbs.

Best would be to have the walls along the edge of the track. No run off areas to cheat on, no kerbs to launch the cars. Any issues and the car runs along the wall.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Would be nice but also dangerous. That T6-7-8 section is quite fast and a significant change in direction. Perhaps why there is so much runoff. Someone will lose it there tomorrow I suspect.

I hope there isn't much grip on the surface as well, it mustn't be so easy...

The corners look tight from the safety car. This track looks like the redbull may make a lot of time in the esses.
I can see them flying through those where no one else can follow. Could be one of those weekends where Lewis just has to shrug his shoulders and accept a P-2.
I don't think the track is narrow though, the camera is just high on the car, given the impression its narrow.
For Sure!!

I wonder whether this circuit might be too fast to squat. Meaning one might not want to squat too much to increase top speed, to be faster and safer in the very fast corners. That might take away a little bit advantage for merc imo.
But just suppose it weren't hypothetical.

I'm not sure they used the squat in Brazil either. Plenty of rear-facing videos out there because of the rear wing legality, but so far I couldn't spot that nonlinear squat so apparent in Austin.

I saw the no-rake on the straight there

If the teams go for lower DF like Baku they will really struggle for tire wear in the race especially in the T4 to T8 section. Ferrari did this in Baku and struggled massively in the race, basically just driving backwards. Surprised they are going for it again here.

Possibly thinking they can qualify well and then it looks hard to overtake so they will be able to defend?

They’ll surely get slaughtered on the straights as soon as the tyres drop off. Anyone with tyres in better condition following will get DRS to be right up with them going into the last corner and then a load more grip coming out of it before getting DRS again on the start finish straight.

Did you watch Qatar? Nothing about this track says Lewis accepting a P2 behind Max.

More likely the other way around! Which gives us a ‘winner takes all’ for Abu Dhabi. I am reminded of 2009….

Same teams, but the momentum is with Mercedes now (and Red Bull are genuinely on the back foot). Although in 2009 Brawn were able to take the driver’s crown….

Yes, realistically Merc will win both races, maybe even a 1-2, if there is no drama.
But also my fear is that drama will rob us even this...one touch of a wall too much by Ver or Ham might kill the show and make Abu Dhabi not more than a glory run for the winner.
