This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
Wow Lewis won't even take part in the post season test with the 18 inch tires!
Who's still convinced he won't walk?
Tyre testing on a car that won't run the tyres isn't any use to him. The tests are just to allow the teams to build up comparison data between the current tyres and the proposed tyres on a known chassis - it's a test against a control group, if you will. You just need a driver that can pedal around at a given lap time to generate the data, so that's why they use reserve/test drivers.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

It's also far more useful to have George there to learnt the team, steering wheel etc. Lewis almost definitely is going to want a few weeks off to process what just happened.
Lewis won't be at the test because he's a little busy receiving his Knighthood at Windsor Castle.
You don't say no to the queen just to test some tyres lol.
George needs the time in the car more than Lewis.
I would also imagine Lewis just needs a break for a couple of weeks.
I will be absolutely gobsmacked if he ass to walk away from the sport. His entire narrative has been about overcoming adversity - walking away doesn't seem his style.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren
Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻♂️

Me . I really did think he would have if he won this title as he would have a multi decade title record and nothing to prove. He has now 'lost' a title and does have something to prove and will take it on.
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

Agree. I think he'd have been more likely to retire had he won the WDC on Sunday. I think he might decide his future based upon how competitive the MB car is in 2022. You can imagine it'll be there or thereabouts unless they've uncharacteristically dropped the ball or missed a trick that other teams have managed to spot, but given their propensity to innovate and develop, you can't see them not rising to the top sooner or later again. What they did to get the car from where it was at preseason testing or even in Austria to where it was in Abu Dhabi was quite staggering, given the 2021 regs and the tight constraints on any sort of meaningful development.
mercedes didn't use its dev tokens on last years car. Can they be transferred to the 2022 car? if yes any idea where we think they will concentrate on?
I would think the floor.

2022 = 100% new cars for everyone, biggest change since 40 years

So no token of course
So 100% worthwhile diverting resources to it as it will probably have a 5 season return against this years one season and they biggest competitor may have done it the other way around

The question for me is how what happened in the last race of the season will effect Lewis's and the teams resolve.
If it was me, my goal for next year would be to absolutely decimate my competition, and stick it to Massi every single change I get (assuming he's still around next year)!
I am confused why would you not use them for this years car, if you had some agreement to use them for next years?
If they used them maybe they would been more ahead, in the first 8 races they was struggling.
How you think George will get on versus Lewis? Think he will do ok. Unlikely to have the consistent strong Race pace Lewis has. Interesting battle to watch
