I wouldn't go so far as to call Ferrari a midfield team, but they are certainly not at the pointy end at the moment.

Maybe Chris Dyer isn't up to the task of head engineer. He was promoted from Raikkonen's race engineer to head eng. this year. Or Andrea Stello(a) isn't a great pairing with Raikkonen.

It could be that or the teams trust in ill advised weather reports, etc.

Ferrari may have finally used up all the F1 experience capital they accumulated during the dream team times. They start to miss Todd, Brawn, Schumacher and probably even Stepney. I just don't believe the current guys are on the same level. The meteoric rise of Brawn just shows what a bad mistake they made by not giving him Todd's job. He is clearly very capable and the Ferrari guys are making far too many mistakes. That was already obvious last season and is even more obvious this season. Even the excuses sound the same. I do not see Ferrari go to the finish in the championship this year. It also looks they have only one motivated driver left in Massa. How can a guy in his right mind get into shorts and eat ice cream while a race is still potetially going to be restarted? Kimi is a fool.

Kimi wants to saves his engine perhaps, since there is no much chances of getting point? Still, I don't like the "laidback" attitude, saying that "there will be next races where we will be strong", "next circuit will suit our cars better". It is kind of a lame excuse since the currect point system rewards consistency. You have to sort of treat every race as the final race and score the maximum points as possible. You don't wait till next race to attack, you do it now. Look, if If Massa did not spin off at Sepang last year and collected 8 points, he could have won the driver title. You cannot simply take the risk of leaving everything to the last race.

What Brawn is saying definitely making sense . I wasn't surprised to see that williams started working on their car 2 years back . With the big rule changes and all if they had started working on the car earlier they could have better results .

Any way its come to a point where it can't get worser ( or so i believe ) , it can only get better.

What was wrong with Kimis' car? It was pushed into the pit lane immediately after stopping for the rain. Do the rules state if you go into the pits during a red flag you have to remain on the track or be disqualified? I thought I heard Steve Matchett say that on SpeedTVs coverage. If his car was broken, and he would have been DQ'ed even if it wasn't, why not get into comfortable clothes?

I'm just asking about this because I don't know the specifics of the state of his car, or what the rules say about going into the pitlane under a red flag. Anybody know the answers?

I think his kers was broken, a team member of ferrari told this to the bbc.

If he would have driven again he would have been dqwf I guess because the cars weren't allowed to enter the pitlane then.

Ah! I see. He did have a real nasty incident with his KERS during practice so if the team said it was suspect I would have gotten out of the car too. Especially with the amount of smoke that thing put out when it failed the first time.

Peter Windsor said (jokingly) that the McLaren guys were saying (again, jokingly) that Kimi was in a conundrum about getting out of the car fast and getting closer to the pitlane so he wouldn't have to walk as far.

I find that the people hating on Kimi for eating ice cream when his car was clearly out of commission to be completely clueless. What did you expect him to do? Stay in that hot sweaty racing suit and sit in the rain to watch as the cars sit out in the rain hoping for a restart when he can't even race?

I mean seriously? People expect too much from these guys. It is so ridiculous.......so what you are saying that if you were a driver with no car and inability to race/score points, you would just sit in the rain and sulk for the cameras instead?
