He can see air.
Air will stick to surfaces, more the surface, more is the parasitic drag.
It's not too difficult to setup Schlieren imaging nowadays. You 3d print parts and it's easy to test them and see what the flow does. With some experience you can extrapolate and get a feel for what air is going to do. No magic involved, just a bunch of experience seeing things work first hand.
And you think he did all of that?godlameroso wrote: ↑18 Feb 2022, 15:53It's not too difficult to setup Schlieren imaging nowadays. No, I'm just saying that it's an option, if anyone is curious. What's the difference between CFD or using smoke in a wind tunnel, or using Schlieren imaging? At the end of the day these are just tools to visualize what you can't normally see, but you can feel. Most of us don't move fast enough to feel the wind so we have to visualize it. Some of use have convertibles though .JPower wrote: ↑18 Feb 2022, 16:01And you think he did all of that?godlameroso wrote: ↑18 Feb 2022, 15:53It's not too difficult to setup Schlieren imaging nowadays. the answer is higher downforce and more efficient car. Thats why Ferrari have small rollhop. They want more clean air to rearwing, to have more downforce. Cooling by centerline means more cooling is packed in centerline and rollhop is much bigger. Another reason the center of gravity is higher in center cooled cars. Cars have more weight higer up and that is not good for driveability in corners. On the other hand with center booling you kan have smaller sidepods and bigger undercat.JPower wrote: ↑18 Feb 2022, 17:28https://preview.redd.it/d9oue3jjzli81.j ... 5639191836
That roll hoop inlet is tiny. Have to wonder what they saw in their data to go with the low cooling setup vs the centerline many of the other teams use.
