Not sure if we should take this as a positive for McLaren and Ferrari, or as a sign they will be absolutely demolished by Mercedes knowing Toto's unprecedented sandbagging skills :lol:

Porpoising is no stranger to Mclaren. It was a issue in the 2013 season

Is that the season they were running pull rod last time and the car looked like it was running with no suspension at all?

ok interesting, i did not know. Well no matter what, this is good news, while McLarens car seem to work here and they can presumably get it into the sweetspot which mean they can move on with their bucketlist, others need to address the issue, and without knowing in detail, it simply cannot be a simple thing to solve. Thats also what the article in amus says. They refer to engineers mentioning its not a pure aero thing, but more factors are involved, floor flex, suspension. And if it happens here imagine some of the tracks on the calendar

Clear that McLaren have got a good foundation to work with and correlation is going well so far, if we they can get the mileage today and tomorrow then gives them a lot of information to go away with an hopefully bring updates quickly to the car.

IIRC the MP4-28 was run intentionally stiff and low at times because that was how they had to run the car to try and extract the performance they observed when they ran the suspension accidentally low in Jerez testing that year.

Ultimately the approach proved unsustainable and they developed away from that limitation.

With the W13 now sprouting testing gills, is the MCL36 (and maybe RB18?) the only car(s) to not even test gills so far?

MCL36 has a big cannon cooling exhaust. W13 tried to do with a smaller exit - may need gills.

no gills on the Williams yet but they tried a funky mid sidepod vent this morning
