Max has signed a mega contract with RBR, never seen before in F1. To be announced this week by RBR.
Was already announced last night on the Verstappen site and in the newspaper this morning.

https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/15228203 ... 1-historie
Reportedly, 50 million USD per year.
Yes.

"Megadeal: Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing agree on new super contract.

World champion is expected to sign for four or five years. Sources in England speak of biggest deal in F1 history; ± 50 million per year.
Megadeal for Max. Formula 1 driver highest earning Dutch athlete of all time. "
Correction. It's 50 million Euros!

I guess Red Bull are desperate to keep him. And perhaps Max is hoping for a Lewis/Seb-like run with them.

I wonder if the deal was only finalised once Max had tried the new car. No point multi-yearing yourself if the car is only midfield, after all. Perhaps that tells us that the RB18 is a top drawer car.

So, he will potentially have the best car for a few years, the highest paying contract, and certainly a number 2 driver whose salary will say as much next to his. It is officially been 'his' team since 2017/2018.

naturally, as new top talents enter the sport, Max will likely be pressed about having the best car, a number 2 team mate, and so on that detractor fans from newer drivers like to come up with.

Massive salary bump for him, and well earned I would say. Wonder if he still has a bunch of performance related bonuses as well? I know RB previously had contracts that were heavily incentivised.

40,000 for every point scored, 1 million for a win and 8 million for the World Cup.
Last year it was always 25 or 18 points. That is a lot of money.

Red Bull sure is hoping the salary cap doesn't include driver salaries any time soon!

This was last year. RB always works/worked in that way. Drivers can make more money by scoring points.

How sneaky of Redbull to give £40m deal for Max without informing Helmut Marko, otherwise he would have blocked it since he thought a similar deal for Lewis was too expensive for formula one!

Just another shining example of the hocus-pocus that comes out of Marko, really.

48 000 pounds is too expensive for a new VW Polo, but it's a good price for a Porsche 718 Boxter
