I'm seeing a clear trend emerging. All Ferrari-powered cars have advanced up the grid relative to last year.

I don´t believe RB is 1s ahead of everybody but, going from that data, it seems Alfa Romeo is quite a good car. Those kind of data is useful just to extract a couple of informations, not to make big conclusions about the actual pecking order.
See, those graphs on twitter were not totally useless as most think. The data pointed that Alfa is quick on the segments measured and Bottas is showing that now

Meanwhile, HAM 6 tenths behind George currently... If this car turns out to be a dog, it will be hilarious... Will wait untill QLF, though. Still not buying that they would be struggling this much. FFS, HAM is currently behind Schumacher :?

Mostly first sector, Lewis complained of the car pulling to the left.

So Mercedes is just gonna tough it out with the porpoising?
This is the most important session of the weekend before qualifying and they are still heavily bouncing.

Mercs are slow in a straight line. Engine modes might account for some of it, but I don't think they're going to be particularly competitive over a single lap.

Not much they can do otherwise really, other than lifting the car to kill the porpoising and then be slow everywhere.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Hamilton on Russell seem to be on two different programs since FP1. HAM doing heavier and Rus going lighter. When you see drivers split like this it could mean a lack of confidence that they have to regain by gathering more data.

I expect both drivers to be on the same program after some point though. Maybe on lower fuel.

Yeah, let’s not factor in the two laps where Hamilton overshot the first corner, and set his quickest time on the third timed lap while George nailed the first lap.

It’s practice…

Cars look poised now, very much like racing cars and not lethargic like they did during the test.

I hate the new tyres. They just look silly and bring nothing to the sport. If they'd gone for really short sidewalls, at least there would be the marketing excuse for Pirelli, but as it is, they're more like SUV All Terrain tyre sidewalls.

I hate them.
Funnily enough, I have a totally different view. I absolutely love them and think they look great

as you can see leclerc is actually faster on all full throttle sections despite having lower top speeds, even very short ones
"usual FP1-FP2-FP3 caveats apply obviously"
Big thanks for sharing this f1tempo link, mate

T5 isn’t really a corner for this cars, they go full throttle through it.

I like the helmet cam, as a novelty is really cool and gives a very different perspective to what the drivers experience.
I mean this corner, which will never be flat out for F1 unless they do some 6 or 7 Gs....:

About the helmet cam, I much prefered the one they put on Alonso, at Spa, last year

Haas and Alfa look a lot racier not to mention the obvious Ferrari.

Meanwhile Merc has the final 5 spots of this session... Norris escapes this to be 11th.
Maybe the engine didn't take so well to the new fuel either.

I said in another thread that Mercedes extreme anti-drag concept may have something to do with the engine

McLaren must be disappointed with practice thus far.
