Aston Martin AMR22

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The lower edge of the sidepod inlet is more curved at the corners rather than hard-angled square shape.

The car looks fast in the corners but the time doesn't show it, they are practically last in the speed trap and they didn't bring any significant upgrades

Where you guys think the Amr22 can qualify today?

Bringing upgrades to this design philosophy wont bring them any reward. Team has already said 'B-spec' doesn't look anything like current version....it will be just damage limitation and testing of different concepts in next few races.

I am very happy though they tried a drastic new concept with AMR22....probably last design efforts/contribution from Green.

AMR22 loses up to 0.75s due to porpoising compromises

An excuse like last year with the floor cutouts costing the low rake cars more than the higher raked designs. There are other teams that have coped better with compromise or design. AM will have to engineer their way out of this. They are competent and will do so, but at what cost?

Only 0.75 because of porpoising? they were 2.2 sec off pole. So aero is much much poor on the car then

It's some BS from Green to generalize the issue. He is simply trying to cover the shortcomings of his design.
Tom McCullough already said they are working on B-Spec & it's nothing like the current version. Green didn't mention anything about B-spec in his interview.

Didn't Merc say preseason that one of their customers got it all wrong?

From an Engineering stand point this car should not be that slow. It's a really well designed car unlike the Toyota's back then. There is potential and I think Aston will Suprise. Same for Alpine
Halo not as bad as we thought

Do you have a link/citation for this reference?

Saudi is a high-speed circuit with a couple of slow corners that should suit their concept; let's see AMR22 performance there

Here is an interesting article -
https://the-race.com/formula-1/aston-ma ... r-in-2022/

Tom, Green & Krack all three of them giving contradicting statements. It only shows two things:-
- Issues with this concept are hard to fix
- Top management is not on the same page on how to move forward. :( :(
