People are. It’s also fair and perfect valid to point out that Verstappen and LeClerc are never going to invite each other to any parties………putting it mildly. I personally would go as far as to say Leclerc dislikes Verstappen but others may disagree.

I would slightly disagree with this. Wheel to wheel I think Leclerc and Verstappen are two of the best right now… Sainz IS probable a better “long race” driver. He can better manage the tyres, fuel etc. it’ll definitely be an interesting race for sure.

Very good job by Ferrari that they put their money on 2022 and have come good. Especially with their PU, considering how far they got pushed back in 2020. Same goes to Red Bull. They got locked in a title fight with Mercedes last year and everybody expected them to have sacrificed 2022, but they have come out with another seemingly title challenger. Folks at Mercedes, both at Brackley and Bricksworth seems have spent time letting their balls in the pool.

From what I've seen RB is definitely fastest on top end by some margin but ferrari has best acceleration and I'm quite positive the most downforce as things stand today.


Hamilton had 313-314 kmh top speed on both his q3 runs, but he was somewhat close to Russell ahead and that certainly gave him something extra because Russel could barely hit 310 kmh with zero slipstream and was actually very slow on main straight. Maybe even different setups because speed difference is perhaps too significant.

Thanks a lot, not a lot between those two drivers. And cars! Just slightly different on acc and top speed. In my view, Honda has more power, but only slightly, 10-15HP tops. Not a big differentiator. Merc might be 3rd on power now, but only just. Its too close to make a huge difference, maybe now drivers can compete on merit again.

If it was a single team, it would be dominance. But now there are two teams that are performing more or less equal, so yes, those drivers can compete on merit.

I was hoping other teams to be closer; maybe to have Haas & Alfa in the mix and I would certainly have liked to see McLaren or Williams to be up there too, but that doesn't seem to be the case yet. But having two teams up there is better than having one team dominate.

Looking at the average qualifying time differences between last year and this I found

Q1 group is 1. 578 secs slower than last year
Q2 group is 0.951 secs slower
Q3 group is 0.677 secs slower

So the field is more compressed.

yes those two teams can, with the proviso in qualifying, tomorrow could be a different ball game.

But no way is Merc in their league, so not sure how Merc can supposidly compete on Merit.

That doesn't matter, it is the car overall.
Williams may have had a better engine then redbull for the last couple of years, but we didn't think they could complete on merit.
