Merc strategy still incomprehensible
Not sure why they didn't run the hard for longer. Their pace was pretty good compared to the medium runners behind them. They aren't going to catch the front four, no matter what tyres they fit.
I have doubts medium will last to the end, the end total of putting hards on is they are extact same position as other teams without having faster tyre advantage

It might just be my perception but the cars don't look as impressive on track, compared to last year. Seems to be better racing mind. The merc engine cars are all struggling. Wonder what happended.
last years cars were at the end of development and with quite well understood tyres, this 1st race is the exact opposite, they are really learning now what is what and where the competition really is, that will let them work out development directions
for instance Merc seem quite lost at the moment, but I don't think it will stay that way for long
Merc seems to have enough pace over the ones behind but not enough to fight, that they seem happy to be using this as a test session.

If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

I guess the question for Max and Charles now... can the Mediums do 25 laps or so to the end without potentially falling away?

Yep most of you just want a procession with HAM at the front driving away into the distance. At least we have drivers trying to pass. See it as a small victory for the sport
Can’t say I agree with you there

Even with DRS, Lewis struggled to get by Kevin on the main straight. Good to see he could follow close in the last corner, however. The new regs are working as advertised, it seems.

Why early pit by Perez? He was on medium for 15 laps?

The lack of engine power seems to be a bigger issue then porporsing

But Red Bull have put Perez on softs. With half the race to run. I guess they're going to try a three stopper.

Redbull no2 driver strategy?

... so Perez pits after just 15 laps on the mediums? Cannot fathom that, unless they're really struggling with high degradation?

So are they all potentially moving to a 3 stop now?

Yeah, most likely. Gets the fastest lap too which protects his team leader a bit.
