Verstappen was the only one trying to overtake anyone for positions that actually mattered. Yes, perez overtook hamilton, but if you go watch that overtake in full hamilton basically makes a completely unforced error and lets perez trough (no one talks about it interestingly, i'd like to hear what sky has to say about it  ) . Verstappen had to attempt those moves because he was on the limit of what car was capable of, especially against fundamentally faster car (which ferrari definitely was), if you don't try your chance then you might not get another one. Perez wasn't interested in attacking sainz at any point so you can't even start a discussion about overtaking skills.
Well they still need DRS so i guess nothing has changed
That was be expected, you cant have a cleaner wake and the same/better slipstream at the same time
Yes indeed the floor and rear wing move all the air up and over the car following so what is left for those massive front wings to bite into

Yeah, it was not good from Max.
he was complaining like a child (Ted put it very well on live tv)
It's a good thing F1TV finally got hold of some good commentators this year who aren't absolute morons such as 80% of sky crew, so I finally no longer have to listen to them. Pff, what a relief. Ted is the biggest clown of them all, followed by hill and herbert.

Funny how Ben Edwards and Jolyon Palmer are able to stay nearly perfectly neutral despite also both being British.
I think Martin Brundle is a gem and neutral. I prefer it for that reason. But I'd love to have Ben Edwards beside him or James Allen
Agreed but mainly because David Croft is bloody awful. I lost count of how many times he was bleating on about the wrong driver today.

How wrong I was!

Ferrari not only is the fastest car but did not have any technical failure, RB, on the other hand..... what a nightmare race for them.
Nah Ferrari not the fastest car. That difference was down to Leclerc's clever driving and tyre management. If anything the cars were more or less equal in race trim. I actually expected RedBull to walk away with it but tyre issues came to be the decider today.
I see it different. This is a Ferrari track. I suspect Ferrari to be strong on traction limited tracks. Looks great out of the slow stuff

Reason is simple: Ferrari didn’t do race sim on Friday and everyone is still treating that team like Domenicali or Montezemolo or Arrivabene are still leading it.
Yeah certainly they were hiding well. I still believe that something went wrong with RB though (regarding race pace not reliability). Anyway, we'll see.
The were managing brake temperature werent they?
From the telecast they seeed to be yes said they could only really push to overtake Leclare once, maybe twice, before they would have to manage. Also an issue earlier in the race

RedBull with be thankful that it’s not tied to components. I’m wrong on that point.

Theres still plenty of air for them to drive into, otherwise how would they be able to have improved aero performance when following compared to last year. Dont forget the air exiting the diffuser is almost at ambient pressure so front wing still has a good flow. It was the giant votices that were produce by the barge boards and rear wing endplates of the old cars that they have wanted to get rid of.

Again I think you watched a different race… Lec had a 0.1-2 advantage in pace AND both FER were managing tires better, even SAI was lapping at the same pace as VER at the end of their stints.

At the moment that FER is the benchmark car. Might not last but it’s a fact now.

Those heavier cars (wheel) are probably more prone to cause power steering issues

Verstappen had to manage his brakes at various points during the race. Leclerc let Verstappen pass each time and the retook the lead soon after. Leclerc showed a cooler head today, even told the team over the radio to calm down at one point. Max Verstappen's impatience is a bit an Achilles heel for him. If the Race Directors are a lot tougher then Max (and others) may find himself in a spot of bother. Looks like the Ferrari can manage it's tyres slightly better than Red Bull, but it's the first race.

Oh OK, I wasn't aware of this problem, if indeed true, it somewhat explains the complete lack of parity between the two cars.

Yeah, must be a relief. If fuel pump was the issue, then even more of a relief as that is a standardized FIA part?!, and nothing to do with Honda/RBPT.

Epic race!

The new cars seem to do exactly what they were designed for...everyone was so close together and cars following never looked unsettled by the car in front!! Bravo F1!!

I wouldn’t go that far. The fact it’s only effected 1 car is somewhat suspicious.

Who builds the pumps?
