It's not only. That's free upgrade in laptime based on just shedding kilos. For team its easy solution to quickly finding laptime while they continue developing car and focusing on designing parts which need to be actually tested in windtunel before they hit the track.

For instance Red Bull can basically for whole year work on just sheeding kilos to make car lighter. To make their car go faster without actually doing any real development work in windtunel. And that's scary part because they are already fastest team on grid.

I thinks it's for one car, and cosidering their Pace in Australia, they could be fighting for pole if the upgrades work. Casue Ferrari isnto bringing upgrades and RB is only bringing weight upgrades

What difference? He and his team have still a lot to prove. Being 4th today or at Abu Dhabi is not an achievement. RS/Alpine could've fought for P4 in '20 and even 21 if they didnt freeze their car anf PU in '19, to focus on this car. So P4 was already within reach, on paper.
So today, the team has just resumed its good progress, after a 2021 hiatus where it had to race 3 years-old chassis&PU.
So being 4th best in 2021 isnt enough, Alpine didnt scarify the last seasons for just p4. P4 should be coupled with a sizeable gap reduction atleast.
But the season barley started, and the car has a lot of room for improvement because it's a relatively conventional car in many areas.
Fry is not Technical Director anyways. It's Matt Harman now, who was the chief designer and designed what is underneath the bodywork. So he did a good work and will hopefully bring a breath of fresh air to the aero development.
