Kind of like me when I loose 4 Kg, 4Kg lighter but same diffuser!
It's not only. That's free upgrade in laptime based on just shedding kilos. For team its easy solution to quickly finding laptime while they continue developing car and focusing on designing parts which need to be actually tested in windtunel before they hit the track.
Fry initially said a major upgrade for Italy - USA time line. That was later update and confirmed for Imola.Mansell89 wrote: ↑10 Apr 2022, 21:28So Imola up next - nice update to the floor (weight shed) here in Australia - will we likely see anything in two weeks or is it hang in there until Miami at the moment?
Strategy was a little unlucky today and track position was very much king in Melbourne, but pace was in the car and PU does look improved.

They will have 1 practice session and then into qualifying.diffuser wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022, 16:06Fry initially said a major upgrade for Italy - USA time line. I thinks it's for one car, and cosidering their Pace in Australia, they could be fighting for pole if the upgrades work. Casue Ferrari isnto bringing upgrades and RB is only bringing weight upgradescontinuum16 wrote: ↑15 Apr 2022, 16:54Szafnauer confirms ‘significant’ aero upgrades in Imola, focused on the floor. The team is hoping to compete with Mercedes this year given the cost cap limiting development scope, and is encouraged by the early pace.

What difference? He and his team have still a lot to prove. Being 4th today or at Abu Dhabi is not an achievement. RS/Alpine could've fought for P4 in '20 and even 21 if they didnt freeze their car anf PU in '19, to focus on this car. So P4 was already within reach, on paper.mclaren111 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2022, 13:02diffuser wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022, 16:06Fry initially said a major upgrade for Italy - USA time line. What a difference Pat Fry has made...
If they carry on this way Alonso will fight for the title next year...
But did he thought? Isn't he just another cog?Don't those guys just guide the people below them?Blackout wrote: ↑16 Apr 2022, 13:49What difference? He and his team have still a lot to prove. So today, the team has just resumed its good progress, after a 2021 hiatus where it had to race 3 years-old chassis&PU.
So being 4th best in 2021 isnt enough, Alpine didnt scarify the last seasons for just p4. P4 should be coupled with a sizeable gap reduction atleast.
But the season barley started, and the car has a lot of room for improvement because it's a relatively conventional car in many areas.
Fry is not Technical Director anyways. It's Matt Harman now, who was the chief designer and designed what is underneath the bodywork. So he did a good work and will hopefully bring a breath of fresh air to the aero development.
