I would say more of a polite nudge.
It should only touch the ground during roll/cornering. The lowest parts of the floor are higher than the top side of the plank, or maybe the step plane as well, depends on how the rules are worded. Basically the plank always hits the ground first during straight running. Unless the floor flexes that same amount, in which case, it's only a bump stop for the floor edges, if that makes sense.mzso wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 20:44Doesn't this just eliminate the suspension at high speeds? Doesn't that cause serious drivebility/performance issues?jumpingfish wrote: ↑28 Apr 2022, 06:28Interesting..

How is it better then a plain dumb bump stop that people keep bringing up?
I saw some videos of one of the F1 cars sparking from the trailing edge of the floor on both sides.vorticism wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022, 03:10It should only touch the ground during roll/cornering. They have done an incredible job alongside Shell coming into this E10 fuel era. This should really help increase their already very good mid speed acceleration
Which should indicate floor flex. The regs if I'm not mistaken ensure that the step plane or plank are the lowest parts of the car, but the floor is not infinitely rigid so bending will be a factor as well. Whether or not limiting floor edge bending via these ice skates helps porpoising as scarbs suggests, no comment. Regardless they're not a suspension bump stop effectively because the floors aren't meant to carry the full weight of car as a point load.AR3-GP wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022, 06:35I saw some videos of one of the F1 cars sparking from the trailing edge of the floor on both sides.vorticism wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022, 03:10It should only touch the ground during roll/cornering. Why is this 15HP figure still going around? The power increase with PU2 will be 10HP as confirmed by Duchessa. They already increased output by 5HP in Melbourne.
Why would it set the team up for failure? They'll be fine.rafeyahmad wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022, 17:00
Spreading these baseless rumors only sets the team up for failure. Shame on Nugnes and his lot
If only a day had 48 hours instead of 24... With my full-time job, all the side-projects I'm involved in and just a few spare hours for private life, no time for much more...
When people expect a 0.4s/lap improvement (based on hearsay) and only see a 0.2s improvement, they're disappointed. It puts undue pressure on the team.JPower wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022, 17:32Why would it set the team up for failure? They'll be fine.rafeyahmad wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022, 17:00

I think you're massively overstating the effect of small rumors on an F1 team.rafeyahmad wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022, 17:41When people expect a 0.4s/lap improvement (based on hearsay) and only see a 0.2s improvement, they're disappointed. I apologize. I meant it sets the fans up for failure, not the team. I should have been clearer in my phrasing.JPower wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022, 17:44I think you're massively overstating the effect of small rumors on an F1 team.rafeyahmad wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022, 17:41When people expect a 0.4s/lap improvement (based on hearsay) and only see a 0.2s improvement, they're disappointed.
