Mercedes W13

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Looks like Merc will have trouble testing the updates as the weather isn't playing along  :

No doubt there is some of that as well but in the straight line at Baku and Canada that is porpoising.
Glad you know better than F1 engineers!!
I do not want to get into this discussion, but at the moment i would not blindly trust the engineers of Mercedes as porpoising has become a political thing. And because of negative implications on their performance when they are forced to raise the ride height - no Mercedes engineer would admit its porpoising. So at the moment - i think it is not wrong to doubt what Mercedes engineers say in that regard and put more trust into ones own eyes.
Right, but every team was having the problem in Baku, even RBR to a lesser extent and multiple times we heard people talk about it not being porpoising.

Also, you argument means it would have been FAVOURABLE for Merc engineers to blame porpoising for the problems.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Did the rear wing have the Alpine-esque corner geometry to the rear wing prior to this weekend? I believe that sharp corner geometry is new.
The "endplate" itself is very similar to the one introduced by Ferrari at Canada on Leclercs car.

So Mercedes seem to be keeping a tight lid on the W13’s upgrades 🤔

Re: Mercedes W13

the only thing we got for now is a modified endplate and a lower downforce front wing ,
also notice the old endplate strake position showing how much teams are working around the tight budget

That’s just a practicality thing. Seen that in other years and at other teams as well. They have to have spare parts on the ready as well. Can’t just make everything from scratch all the time.

Teams were having problems on the front straight but the W13 was having multiple problems with porpoising, jumping in corners and bottoming out on the bumpy front straight. The Red Bull was only having a problem with the bumpy straights and even then it was insignificant compared to the pain that the W13 was giving to Lewis and George.

Is there a photo embargo?? There's literally nothing on this car while all other teams have something shown already
