Or you go for more downforce and more effective L/D ratio. So win win. Still i somewhat cannot see that as effective use of resources. And FIA will not like that development because goes against up wash mantra they tried to setup in those rules. And they were clear that any development against spirit of rules will get forbidden in rules quite quickly. Quite a risky development.
Aston Martin is smart they consulted with the FIA throughout its development it’s unlikely to get banned next year.
However, Aston Martin performance director Tom McCullough has revealed that as well as the FIA being happy with the regulatory aspect of the design, it was also satisfied that the concept did not scupper the intent of the rules to help the racing.

Keep in mind that Mercedes consulted the FIA on DAS.
So long as AM carry on near the rear of the grid, no one is likely to spend too much time protesting, unlike with DAS. If the end plate had been brought to the grid by one of the team near the front, there would have been a lot more lobbying. Such is F1 politics.
It will be interesting to see if one of the top teams implement a similar design, even if just to get the FIA to step in.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
