If there was any doubt that the Team did the right thing by making a change on their driver line up… Been outqualified by Albon in a Williams when your team mate is giving you a tow, says it all :(

Lando saved a set of softs. Ricciardo gets a 7th place start and a fresh set aswell I'd guess. But still not making q3 is disapointing

No need to use a new set of tires, nor stress the engine if you are starting last regardless :)

Apologies if this has been asked before…

If Lando starting at the back, why is he not taking a whole new PU?

Apparently I misread, there is no new MGU-K… No Gearbox components either (although, there was no benefit in introducing a new at this point).

Szafnauer On Piastri

“I rarely like to talk about details of driver contracts but two things I can say: one, there was no ‘by the 31st of July you have to do some things or therefore you can get on’ – there’s none of that. That 31st of July deadline that I read all the time is fictitious, it’s not in the contract that he signed.

“And the term of the contract, it is through 2024 with an option at the end of ’23. So I’ll just say those things, but there’s a lot more in there. Like I said, I don’t really like to talk about specifics,” explained the Alpine boss.

I believe Otmar as far as Oscar can throw him. All these stories coming out in bits.
I’m my opinion Otmar has spent the majority of his career publicly defending himself in the aftermath of a muck up that’s occurred on his watch😬

So apparently Dan didn't have the preferred rear wing setup for qualli. They had to make a late change. So more downforce then? Wonder why that is and how much that cost in time?

“We had an issue this morning so we had to change rear-wing spec,” Ricciardo revealed in the paddock afterwards.

“So we are, let’s say, not on the preferred one. I mean, maybe it works amazing tomorrow, I don’t know. But it’s hard to really know what will happen tomorrow."

Yes, he was running has more downforce than Lando, but I don’t think it’s bad he can maximise his race stints with so many drivers starting at the back…

I wouldn’t really blame the wing, he should of built his time in the middle sector, but was only 0.05 quicker than Lando in the middle sector despite more downforce.

I’d hope and expect Daniel finishes ahead, I think it’s a lot harder to overtake this year with these cars on the straights (obviously I could be very wrong). Unless Lando has a significant delta advantage or a good strategy will be tough, his best bet is to try to follow Max and Charles through, that’s if he can keep up.

In my mind if your Daniel your ideally doing a one stopper.

If your Lando a two stopper
