If he was actually any good now he might have had the chance to destroy whatever teammates. He didn't stay in F1 because he is done. Better to leave F1 and maybe just maybe some team will take him in the future. Stranger things have happened.mwillems wrote: ↑18 Oct 2022, 21:52He's talking about Daniel leaving so Piastri can improve the team, not talking about Daniels future whatsoever
As for going to Williams, why is it bonehead? He's been in the sport for 11 years and has a very informed opinion about what it would take for him to stay in F1, probably a little more informed than the armchair observers with the boneheaded insistence that they know better of what he wants than the man himself!
I was only joking ~6 months ago BUT....Macklaren wrote: ↑25 May 2022, 15:24No slowdown in commercial signings. We will need a digital billboard on the car with scrolling sponsors at this rate

Meh. It's just another added weight for very little gain.SmallSoldier wrote: ↑20 Oct 2022, 16:51Zack doing Zack things… McLaren will introduce in the USGP a new form of sponsorship display… The digital displays will allow to change the sponsor “on the fly” (jokingly, one could ask for their sponsorship to be displayed in a particular lap if wanted), as well as the potential to display other information (driver, lap time, etc).
The display is extremely thin and weights 190g
There's a commercial side to the sport, I'm sure 190grams won't cause any issues. It's a great innovation.Zynerji wrote: ↑20 Oct 2022, 16:56Meh. If it doesn't directly make it go faster, it should be deleted immediately.
I often wonder how many sensors and wires could be deleted for weight if they were to go back to a more standard NA V8.
Sponsors where there regardless of color scheme, the car would be completely black and all sponsors would remain with white lettering.Zynerji wrote:The moment you decide to go slower just to collect more money so you can go faster, you are now 1 hand clapping.
And adding 190g after removing 30% of the paint for weight savings is a bit recursive.
Maybe keep the paint, and put additional sponsors there?
What I don't get is why you think simply driving in F1 is a priority for him or should be a priority for him. Your looking through the eyes of someone who has achieved nothing in comparison. He's an elite sportsman and has been for years and is still better than many of the guys on the grid, but you think he needs to look at F1 with the eyes of someone who wouldn't get within a million miles of F1 unless he was given a ticket and told to sit on the grass, aka your eyes. Of course he doesn't and he;s not going to look at an F1 seat the same wayInsomniRacer wrote: ↑20 Oct 2022, 14:50He is a bonehead because if he was actually any good now he might have had the chance to destroy whatever teammates. He can't do well because of himself, not because he doesn't want to go to a lesser team. Yes he's been in the sport a while, which only means he doesn't even want to be in F1 in a lesser team being outclassed. Less experienced drivers would at least take the chance.
F1 is cutthroat and Riccardo was done as soon as he was getting destroyed by Norris. A lucky win is all that's kept the outside delusions of grandeur going. It's never easy to see likable characters fall from grace.
It's just going to be used in free practice and as a novelty is a way to get some extra attention in the team and the sponsors on the device.
But it all depends on where the line for minimum weight is. If you are 1kg above the limit in 'normal' running, you work your nuts off for every gram. If you are 5g below it, you may as well use it as an earner as ballast.
