I’d rather be a fan than a hater.
The good drivers drive fast because of the car. The great drivers drive fast despite the car.
Ask Alain Prost what he thought of his 1990 Ferrari, iirc he compared it to a truck!
Daniel is too nice to tell us what he really thinks of his McLaren.
Top drivers changing teams has gone horribly wrong before and will do so again (Fernando rejoining McLaren also springs to mind).
First of all, Alain Prost finished 2nd in 1990 behind Senna, won a few races. It was in 1991 that he complained about his Ferrari, calling it a truck. Guess what? He still managed a couple of podiums, finished in the top 6 in the Championship, even though he retired in nearly 50% of the races and didn't even feature in the season finale in Australia. He also didn't get trounced by his less experienced team mate. The problem is, Daniel is under performing in his car, whether it's a truck or not. He's like Latifi in the horrible Williams, while Lando is performing like George, in same horrible Williams. Even if the results are bad, like with Fernando because of the car, you couldn't fault his performance, which is what Lando is doing, making the most of what he has. Daniel can blame McLaren for not producing a race winning car, but he can’t blame McLaren for his lack of adaptability, which Carlos managed to do. Unfortunately for Daniel, it appears he's surrounded himself with people who won't tell it like it is, maybe everyone in his management is a buddy and just there for the F1 ride as well. It's a shame cause he's a top bloke.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.
